Bookkeeping & business performance advisory

Your margins moved.
Your bookkeeper can’t tell you why.

Clean monthly books, clear financial reports, and a real conversation about what they mean — from a former CEO who has run the P&L, not just recorded it.

Why Equator

There’s a gap between your bookkeeper and your CPA. We work in it.

Most bookkeepers

Record what happened.

They’re trained to keep accurate books — not to interpret them. You get a clean P&L, and the conversation stops exactly where it should start.

Most CPAs

Focus on tax and year-end.

The people who could explain your numbers rarely want the monthly work. It’s the lowest-margin hour on their calendar, so it gets referred out.

Equator does both — the monthly bookkeeping and the conversation about what it means — because the person reviewing your numbers has spent twenty years on the other side of the table, accountable for them.

The questions we help you answer every month.

PROFITABILITY

Sales are up. Why are margins down?

Pricing, costs, and product or service mix — and which one deserves attention first.

CASH

We made a profit. Where did the cash go?

Connect earnings to collections, inventory, and the commitments that tie cash up.

EFFICIENCY

Are costs growing faster than the business?

Labor and overhead measured against revenue and activity, month over month.

PLANNING

Can we afford the next move?

Forecasts and scenarios before you hire, buy equipment, or open a location.

Who we help

Businesses that make, move, store, or sell physical products.

Where inventory, cost of goods, and working capital decide whether growth makes money — the operations Robert has run himself.

Manufacturing & food production

Material costs shift monthly and margins follow. Know your true cost per unit before you quote or reprice.

Consumer goods brands

Promotions, retailer terms, and product mix — see which SKUs and channels actually earn their keep.

Retail & e-commerce

Inventory, shrink, shipping, and fees. Understand margin after everything, not just at the register.

Distribution & wholesale

Thin margins and long receivables. Track gross margin by customer and how many days your cash is tied up.

Logistics & warehousing

Labor, equipment, and space are the business. Measure cost per order, pallet, or mile against what you charge.

Multi-location operators

Restaurants, franchises, and service businesses with more than one site — see which location carries the others.

Not on this list? If your business carries inventory, job costs, or several locations, the problems — and the fit conversation — are usually the same.

About your advisor

Robert Kagundah, MBA

Former CEO and owner-operator. Now on your side of the table.

For two decades Robert has been accountable for the numbers — first with other people’s capital, then with his own. As a Country Manager with The Coca-Cola Company, he oversaw a $15 million greenfield bottling plant project. As CEO of a private-equity-backed food manufacturer, he led a turnaround and built the projections, cash-flow forecasts, and scenario models his investors relied on. As an owner-operator, he ran a food manufacturing business where the margin and the cash were his own.

He has set prices, defended margin, managed cash through tight months, and made the capital decisions a monthly report is supposed to inform. At Equator, he brings that judgment to your books — connecting profitability, cash, and working capital to the decisions in front of you.

Questions

Worth answering up front.

Is this just bookkeeping with a different name?

Bookkeeping is the foundation, but every package includes a monthly review where Robert walks through what changed, why it matters, and what to do next. Most bookkeeping services stop at the report.

Do you prepare taxes?

No. We keep your books and reporting in good order and work alongside your CPA or tax preparer, who keeps that relationship. If you need one, we can help you find one.

My books are behind. Is that a problem?

It’s common, not disqualifying. A cleanup project brings everything current before monthly service starts. We scope and price it after looking at your records — not as a guess on the first call.

Which package is right for me?

Clarity suits owners who want reliable numbers and a clear monthly picture. Performance adds targets and budget tracking — the right fit for most growing businesses. Decision Partner adds cash forecasting and scenario planning for owners facing a hire, expansion, or major purchase. We’ll recommend one on your consultation call.

Can you help with a loan, investor raise, or major investment?

Yes, as a separate project. Robert has prepared projections, cash-flow forecasts, scenario models, and investor materials as CEO of a private-equity-backed company. We build the financial case and the numbers behind your lender or investor package; legal, tax, and investment advice stay with your attorney, CPA, and advisors.

How do we work together if you’re remote?

Everything runs in QuickBooks Online and secure, approved connections — you never share banking passwords. We agree a monthly calendar for document requests, report delivery, and your review call, and you work directly with Robert.
